Throughout 2021, The Greg Hill Foundation will be celebrating 10 years of giving by going “Beyond The Cause” and taking an in depth look at some of the individuals and families who the foundation has been able to support. This year long fundraising campaign will showcase just how important donations from the foundation have been for our beneficiaries and seek to raise $1,000,000 to support even more in the future.
Every $5,000 raised is a new matching donation for a future beneficiary. Help us continue to help others by making a donation today!

On Tuesday, December 22nd, just a few days before Christmas, a fire broke out at a home in Scarborough, Maine. Firefighters from Scarborough, Saco, Biddeford, Hollis, Gorham, Buxton, Westbrook, and Portland responded, but the fire swept through the two-story home causing extensive damage. The fire has left Kevin Cashman, a Lieutenant in the Portland Police Department, his wife, and three daughters, ages 19, 18, and 14, living in a hotel this holiday season. In addition to the loss of their home, most of their possessions were destroyed and they are currently trying to secure long-term rental housing.
We held a fundraiser for the Cashman Family and matched donations up to $2,500. Including our match, we were able to donate $41,919 to the Cashman Family. Thank you to everyone who donated and allowed us to help the Cashman Family in their time of need.

Kimberly Gunner and Andy Colbert were out for their routine evening stroll near downtown Natick on the evening of Tuesday August 18th when a blue pickup truck jumped the curb and ran them over, driving them into a wooden fence. A piece of the wood from the fence impaled Kimberly through the chest. In the haste to flee the scene, the driver of the truck backed over Kimberly, crushing both of her legs, and took off at a high rate of speed. They were both med-flighted to nearby trauma centers. At this time it is still unclear as to whether the medical team will be able to save both of her legs.
Due to our donors tremendous support, we were able to make a total donation of $15,741 to Kimberly Gunner and Andy Colbert. Thank you for your support and for helping us help others.

During the early morning of Wednesday, November 13th a 4 alarm fire broke out in Worcester and we tragically lost Lt. Jason Menard.
Worcester Fire Chief Michael Lavoie said Lt. Jason Menard, a 39-year-old husband and father of three, died of his injuries after his “heroic efforts” to save people in the four-alarm fire at 7 Stockholm Street.
Lavoie said fire authorities received reports of a baby trapped on the third floor of the building as well as a report of a trapped resident around 1 a.m.
Menard “heroically” and “selflessly” helped a probationary firefighter to the stairs before returning into the flames to help another firefighter escape out the window.
We held an on-air fundraiser on November 13th, and matched all donations up to $15,000. In total, due to the generosity of so many, we were able to donate $275,000 Menard Family.

On Monday, November 11th we held an on air fundraiser for the Family of Ryan Baldera. On November 7th he was working at Buffalo Wild Wings in Burlington when two cleaning agents mixed causing a chemical reaction. Ryan rushed to try and clean up the chemicals but the effects of the chemical reaction caused immediate breathing issues. Ryan got everyone out of the restaurant and while he was able to make it outside the restaurant, he was in serious condition when the fire department arrived, and later died at Lahey Hospital.
“Ryan was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and cherished uncle, nephew, and son-in-law, to his close knit family and friends,” his family said in a statement. “While devastated at this unimaginable loss, we are so very proud that Ryan died while trying to protect his fellow employees and restaurant patrons.”
Due to your generosity we have made a total donation of $13,233 to the Baldera Family. Thank you for Helping Us Help Others!

On Monday, September 16th, the Farmington, Maine Fire Department responded to a call about a “gas smell” at the administrative building for Life Enrichment Advancing People (LEAP), an organization that helps disadvantaged and disabled adults.
Upon arrival the building exploded. Captain Michael Bell was killed in this explosion, and at least six other people, including four firefighters, a LEAP maintenance worker and an ambulance employee, were injured.
On Tuesday, September 17th, the WEEI Greg Hill Morning Show will hold a fundraiser for the family of Captain Michael Bell and the others injured in the explosion. Please consider making a donation at this time.
The Greg Hill Foundation responds to immediate requests for assistance, to improve the lives of local families touched by tragedy, through matching the charitable donation of Greg’s media audience.
