Scoliosis Facts
Scoliosis affects 2 to 3% of the general population (about 6-9 million people in US)
The primary age of onset is 10 to 15 years old, 75% of patients are girls
Undiagnosed or untreated scoliosis can lead to several long-term effects and complications
In severe cases, untreated scoliosis can lead to invasive scoliosis spinal fusion surgery – leaving a steel rod in the patient’s spine resulting in major recovery and potential long-term effects ranging from chronic pain to infertility. Cost of surgery can be anywhere from $50,000-$200,000.
